Venezuela It is found in Australia, north and south Africa, India, Southern Europe, China, Mexico, Spain, Turkey and Venezuela in damp marshy areas on moist loams and clays. It is found in hilly country or moist valleys in deep rich soils. The tree is indigenous with a few exceptions to Australia and Tasmania. The genus contains about 300 species and is one of the most characteristic genera of the Australian flora.
