Appendicitis is a disease caused by chronic inflammation in appendix. It is characterized by tube like shape projecting from first part of the large intestine. The appendix occurs either due to anatomical blockage or obstruction due to hardened faces. This inflammation can develop speedily and result into infection. Obstruction in lumen or internal part of appendix is the major cause of appendicitis. This results in greater pressure , weakened blood flow and swelling. It could even lead to gangrene and tearing up of appendicitis.
The most common reason of appendicitis are due to feces blocks. Though swelling in the appendix could also be the result of viral or bacterial infections present in the digestive tract that leads to infection in lymph nodes and has squeezing effect on the appendix. Another reason is due to injury in abdomen caused by trauma or due to some genetic factors.
